If you’ve visited our website before, you’ll notice a new look and a new name. In July 2026, Vision Installs rebranded as Vision Build.
The name change has been on my mind for a while. “Installs” has always had a slight trade feel, and more than once we’ve had people assume we work in multimedia. While Vision Installs felt right when I established the business in 2014, it doesn’t really fit the business as it stands today. “Build” better reflects the full scope of what we do, from laying the first brick to the finished space. It feels more fitting for the level of work we deliver.
Beyond the name and visual refresh, nothing has changed. Vision Build is not a new company; it is a rebrand. We retain the same registered company, the same company number, the same trusted team, and the same commitment to the standard of work we’ve always delivered.
Having completed 200 projects under the Vision Installs umbrella, there is much to reflect on and much to be proud of.
Award-winning work
Last year, we won the Large Renovation Project award at the Federation of Master Builders South West Awards for a stunning project we were privileged to undertake.
The brief was a full luxury upgrade of a 1920s detached family home. Every room was stripped back to allow for underfloor heating and improved insulation to meet current building regulations, so the house is as energy-efficient as it is beautiful. The swimming pool roof was replaced with glass, transforming what had been a dark, gloomy space into a bright and inviting one. A dedicated cinema room was created from scratch, complete with a 130″ dropdown screen, red-velvet Venetian wall plaster and a full smart home setup.
A Lutron/Control4 home automation system runs throughout the property and garden, putting lighting, heating, blinds and irrigation at the client’s fingertips via a single app. The client can pre-warm the steam room from the gym before they’ve even finished their workout.
Team consistency
In the construction industry, teams often chop and change on every project. Vision is different.
Richard Parker has been our tiler for over 20 years. I first met Sam Andrews, our electrician, 18 years ago, when he was an apprentice. He lectured at Exeter College for a time before joining us full-time six years ago.
Christian Dally has been managing our sites for years, and Aaron Mutter, who joined us as our first apprentice in 2019, is still with the team. Matt Bagwell, our carpenter, has been with us longer than I can remember.
Team consistency matters and is something I’ve worked hard to develop over the years. Having an established team means everyone works well together and understands the exacting requirements of every Vision Build project.
Investing in the next generation
I’m passionate about bringing on the next generation of tradespeople and helping to address the construction industry’s skills shortage. It’s a genuine problem, and one we try to help with by providing real opportunities for young apprentices from Exeter College.
Our two most recent apprentices, Toby Massara and Ben Crumpler, have successfully completed their Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship. Both are staying on with Vision and have already become integral members of the team. Watching someone come in as an apprentice and grow into a skilled, reliable tradesperson is one of the most satisfying parts of running this business.
A window in the schedule
Before some larger projects get underway in the autumn, we have a window in the diary. If you’re considering a project or upgrade, now is a good time to get in touch.
